Question about Choctawhatchee
I am coming down on Saturday and will be staying in Miramar through Tuesday. I am set up for Surf casting and could do some kayak fishing in the bay. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

White point is easy but you will need a pass from Jackson Guard. They just started selling day passed I believe.
Depending on your experience you could fish the harbor, don't do it on the weekends though. To many idiots.
You could also take a little drive west and fish the intercoastal, N.Lytle does guides out there.

Fishing from Cinco bridge to Shalimar bridge on hw 85 on the east side of the bay is docks and grass beds. Been getting about 20-40 fish a trip off of Shalimar Bridge and at least 10 fish a trip off of Cinco Bayou. Fishing has been poor with all the fresh water from the rain since the 10th of January.
Trout and reds are in creek mouths and some monsters can be found if you hunt them in the creeks and bayous. Otherwise white trout, croaker, mangrove snapper and bull reds are available on the bridges consistently and year round.
That's west Choctaw for this month, been bad the last two weeks from rain. For the Destin area the bridges are good, especially the area around Destin Marina and Lulu's, as well as the Destin toll bridge. Good snapper and sheepshead on all the bridges in Destin, just avoid Destin Pass due to dangerous traffic and currents.
I have never fished the gulf side of Okaloosa or East Choctaw, but know a bit about west Choctaw, spring through fall is the best time to visit for fishing though.

1. Park at the west end of the Crab Trap restaurant parking lot and short walk to water for surf fishing or putting kayak in. 2. Or Destin Bridge area. 3. Or Okaloosa Pier or John Beasley park next door.
Sorry to say this but the weather does not look like it will be in your favor. Rain and storms predicted so far.
Just as a suggestion. If it clears up enough for a period you might put it the bay side and target Trout and Reds. My even catch some Flounder. Sheepshead are hanging around docks and piers. Been some reports of dirty water in places because of run off from recent heavy rain.
Hope you get to fish. Good luck.
