Hey everyone,

I am usually an offshore guy,but I have been caught up in the Flounder run. I am not very good at catching them. I have been told that I am not patient enough. Some friends have been telling me stories about catching some big flounders near the Destin area and in the sound near Spectre Island. I like going out of Shoreline since I live in Navarre. Are there any good spots that you may willing to share in teh Navarre or Pensacola area? I have seen some caught in the pass this time of year. Again, I am not very experienced in the FLounder game. Any advise would be helpful. I plan on usingsome Gulp shrimp and minnows unless you tell me something else.

canal mouths, jetties, anywhere with a bit of structure and a bit of current.

gulps are usually what i use... they key is to identify what a flounder bite feels like.... if you are bouncing your jig off the bottom, it will just be a sudden THUD, then dead weight... set the hook as soon as possible, any hesitation will usually result in you missing the hookset.

i use 15lb braid, just to make sure i can feel when my jig hits the bottom, and to make sure it stays on bottom....

cover lots of water, flounder aren't like trout or redfish, where they will congregate in one hole....

it takes some patience for sure....

i've caught several45lb+ kings, triple digit tarpon, and some nice cobia.... but i'd rather catch a 5lb flounder any day!

Thanks for the information. The bite info will be especially helpful. I think that I have missed several. I like the light takle fishing also. I would be very excited to get a 5lb Flounder.

Fort Pickens and use a Brown (rootbeer w/gold glitter)1/2 ounces D.O.A.. Work then slow if it is sand bottom.
