Default Fishing pensacola rivers ...

I fish Destin/Fwb area but decided to try pcola which I go maybe once a year. So I went to Pensacola to find Redfish No luck . We ended up pulling the boat out and trying the Escambia river and caught one Hybrid around 14in. We went up the river a good ways tried many spots didn't see no bait and no fish. We actually caught the hybrid on a run off into the bay at the end of the day . We were looking for strippers and reds and trout . So I just want to know is this river being productive this winter? Is blackwater better? Not looking for secrets I just would like to know which one is better so I don't waste a trip . I know I got to put in the time to catch fish but any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The Blackwater has some trout and I've found a few small reds by accident, but it's spotty and seems pretty hit-or-miss. I don't know much about the Escambia, other than that a few winters back I found a few trout in the deeper cut bends in the creeks / channels that wind through the "delta" section of the mouth of the river.

I can't compare the two, I think both have fish it's just figuring out where they are. I'm still working on it, too!

I heard some talk of people on the lower Escambia catching some trout, as well. Just haven't been over there much myself. Did catch a couple trout the one time I was over there on channel swings in the creeks, working a jerkbait or fluke s-l-o-w

The rains we had earlier really muddied up Escambia. Give it a week or so, then fish it like any other body of water - points, creek mouths, and drop offs.
