Try this video for throwing a cast net. It helped me a lot!!!

This shows how to throw one with putting the net in your mouth and without. Its a five minute video and VERY easy to follow.

Really great info! Thanks for all the great advice I will try that 8# line. I will have to double check, but I think I had 20 on it, as that is what the wife bought us.

The video was great. I also found someone mentioning that they use a clothespin on a mono line necklace to hold the net instead of their teeth. As hungry as I get, I may forget to let go! :doh

Thanks much to everyone for the tips!

ericholstman (10/14/2008)Mike,

I'm so happy you and your son won the freeraffle fishing trip with me last night at the HLS Seminar Series. I will do my very best to show you everything I know. Looking forward to it and talk to you soon.

Wow, that's great, Eric's the man, he'll teach you what to do!

The raffle could not have gone to anyone who would profit more from it. I think we'll be seeing a few more fishing pics very soon. Good luck Mike and son (gotta give em a stage name! ).

Eric, we can't wait to get out there. My son couldn't stop talking about the up coming trip on the way home. I couldn't either! It was as nice surprise!

Thanks again to everyone for the great help. My son is chomping at the bit to try out the advice. The small craft advisory has been keeping me in, as I don't have much experience with what my boat can handle, but as he was quick to point out... "tomorrow after school isn't looking bad"

I'm new to the forum, and this thread caught my eye. Being a father myself, I have to first say that Mike, I commend you on tackling this with your son. Much better to have the young ones on the water, than out on the street. Well done.

I was very excited to see that you had won a trip with a guide, and then became completely encouraged for you once I checked out your guide's website, I new you were going to have a first class experience, and I have no doubt that you will leave that experience with a head full of knowlege, and fresh ideas.

Though I doubt I could ever live up to the standard of a professional guide, I can say that I come from a family that has fished the waters of Bay and Gulf county for better than 150 years ... and I would certainly enjoy taking you're son and you along with my daughter out if you ever find yourself this way.

Keep those lines tight bro!

We got out there yesterday and caught a few! I wanted to link to a report posted by Eric, with some pics of Connor holding the spoils of the fun we got to have with Eric out on Blackwater. We had a great time! You can see them at http://www.pensacolafishingforum.com...8365-15-1.aspx.

Thanks all!
