Default BULL RED FUN

My goal here is just to offer suggestions for handling the Bull Reds at this time of year, have fun and successfully release our spawners to do what they came here to do! No offense meant to anyone who handles them another way!

These Bulls, both females and males are easy to tire, and damageespecially when using light tackle:
 1.
Do not hang the big bullsby a boca or other device in a vertical positionfor any extended period, take a quick weight if you want, but support the fish in a horizontal position as much as possible, especially the belly area! Unlike the smaller reds, the stress to the BULLReds insides when hung by the mouth is very damaging!

Use WET hands or even a WET towel is OK to protect their outside skin/scales!

Don't grab his/her gills or gill plate and hang him/herand damage them.

Take quick pic if you want, then putthis fish back in the water as quick as possible

Be sure to revive them, you can do this by hooking them with a boca in the mouth, set them in the water, and move them in arotating, and circularforward motion to wash some water over their gills for a while, once revived, set them free! NOTE- this make a few minutes depending on how over-worked the fish may be!

Examples:
GOOD

NOT GOOD

Happy fishing and have fun, but lets keep'em alive tomake redfishing better than ever for 2010!

Good points! You may add that when putting the fish back in the water, be careful not to drag it "backwards" forcefully. This can stress the fish also.
