1/2 CDX. there is no need for 3/4, and def dont waste your money buying BC. unless you plan on staining it to match the facade of the house

Window World is awesome. However, plywood on windows is merely to deflect flying objects penetrating glass unless there is a method of attachment that does not allow wind to force the window protection from being removed from the window as protection. I screw in polywood (I think 1/2") to the frame around the exterior and hope for the best. If it pulls off and a branch goes flying through, then that is what ins. is for. I am going to look into the window world thing though, as the front half of our house has their windows on it, and they do a phenominal job backed by a phenominal gaurantee. Just my $.02

I can install hurricane panels that will last a lifetime. I'll pull the permit and include all hardware. They stack in a corner in the garage and only take up 15" in width x the longest length of your largest opening. Call if you need hurricane shutters.

If you receive A insurance deduction for having shutters...unless they are 5/8 thick your insurance will not pay the damages.

It is my understanding that is true plus if you have another opening such as an inswing solid door, sky light or an garage door thats only wind load rated the same applies. You really need to watch that discount.

I have had the same 1/2" pressure treated for the last 9 years. everything still fits fine. No warping either. I just store them in the rafters of my shed when not in use.
