weatherman (9/8/2008)All right folks, after a bit of a scare from Ike it truly seems that TX will get all it can handle from Ike. It looks like Corpus Christie or the ever loving hurricane town of Galveston will have to deal with Ike. Ike will restrengthen into a CAT 3 or possibly a weak CAT 4 for its impending TX landfall.

The shortwave of low pressure that will be transiting the US will be moving a bit too fast to have anything to do with Ike. It looks like High pressure has saved us once yet again.

Ike still bears watching as we all know mother nature has her way.

Do you think the wind will be worse than it was in Gustav? I'm in the process of pulling all of my crab traps (about 60 left in the water)out of the water, but if it isn't going to beas bad asGustav I can leave them in.

I dont think we will see much effect here at all. I would let em soak and catch them crabs. Got any Jimmies you dont need??

You should have caught me yesterday. I cooked up a mess and was giving them away. Some of the other forum members got some.

I'll set you some aside next time I get a load that isn't going to the fish house. The jimmies just showed up thick in the last couple of day, but they felt a little light. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, I heard the crabs were running good right now, I crabbed a bit last year but someone was stealing crabs out of my pots, had em on a pier. I got fed up with it and quit crabbing. Little rascals are tasty though. A lot of work to get a good eat on but nothing a NASCAR beer cant cure.

They steal mine too. It really bugs me when they steal the traps.:banghead

Stone crab season is coming up in October, and they are everywhere. I probably threw back 40 keeper claws today. They are easier to pick than Blue crabs.

I just hope the storm holds west.
