Default Hurricane Tracking Software

Up until this year, I used a software package called Eye of the Storm to track hurricane activity throughout the season. The software was exceptional, inexpensive and incredibly accurate. Unfortunately, the guy who developed and ran it is burned out and shut down his server after the 2008 hurricane season concluded. As a 30+ year veteran of the data processing world, I fully understand the burnout.

He did, however, put those of us who purchased his software onto another site which not only looks fantastic but also seems to be well-staffed and intent upon doing things right. The site is www.stormpulse.com. The only drawback to the site I can see is it requires a fairly new PC with some horse power to run quickly. It is graphics intense, but a really, really well laid-out and functioning site.

For those of you who are new to this area (I grew up here), being able to track a storm's progress as quickly and accurately as possibleis both critical to safety as well as how you need to spend your pre-storm time preparing. As a former "DP'er" and Pensacola resident, I heartily recommed this site.
