Question Bottom fishing for snapper after the storm

Very first post! I'm a newbie and don't know much about snapper fishing.

I was thinking of trying to get a bottom fishing trip after the storm passes and would like some opinions on weather or not the fish would bite. Do you think the water will subside, or will the storm still have everything churned up. I had time for Thursday and the weather channel is calling for clear skies and a light chop.

Any advice would be appreciated and I'm really starting to enjoy this forum

Welcome Jreb... I imagine you'll be able to limit out on public numbers this weekend due to the storm...

Thanks for your advice CH. I'm gonna jump on a charter. I just needed justifation to spend a grand to go fishing. Lol. I was worried that I would go and the bite would be turned off cause of the storm.

Fishing should be great after the storm. Use live poggies or hand size pinfish & fish the upper end of the stack, usually 15 - 30 ft off the bottom for the large snapper. Caught a 24 pounder a couple of weeks ago that way.

Just an update. Made the trip Thursday as planned. Bite was really slow to start. But we ended up with our limit in red snapper and two descent king mackerel. One snapper was 24lbs. I'll try to post some pics in the offshore threads
