Curiosity satisfied. What a nightmare for a new boat owner. Too bad they could not have gotten in with Sea Tow Sunday night.

Why wouldn't they have towed the boat in, too rough ?

I'm surprised he came that far as high as the seas were. I would've been tempted to wait it out in Panama City or come down the intercoastal.

If both engines went out at the same time, I'm assuming it would be related to the rough water ?

hurricanes1 (11/11/2009)Im a firefighter at Navarre beach and we went to the boat on Tuesday morning and got all the rods and electronics off the boat. We made contact with the owner and he is from Destin. He just bought the boat from Sarasota And while he was driving it back Sunday night, the engines went out on him just outside the Destin pass. Coast guard picked the passengers up and they anchored the boat hoping it would hold but of course it didnt in those kind of sea's. We took him back out today to get some more of his stuff off, and insurance is sending someone for the boat.

We pulled this boat back in the water today. It sustained no damaged getting back in the water and appears to be in very good shape. The mechanics will start work on the engines tommorrow. If all goes well the owner may be fishing on her soon.

+1 to the Firemen who recovered the contents. That made this nightmare a little less severe.

That beach was a better place than the Destin jetties. Could have been a lot worse.

As a result, NOAA fisheries reopened the public comment period for and additional 15 days, but there was no change to the results.
