Default 2009 Hurricane Preparation Seminar at West Marine 3500 Barancas

Tuesday, June 30 at 7PM, West Marine, 3500 Barancas we will have a hurricane preparation discussion. Bruce Mitchell, USMC Retired and I will tell about our experience riding out Ivan on our boats. Bruce got his 50' Schooner out of the marina at NASP during the beginning of the storm and anchored across the bayou in the golf course, then got off before the water receded. I had my 46' motor sailer at my dock in Bayou Chico. I will relate how I had "hardened the target" and had minimal damage. I did determine that I could not stand up in more than 110 MPH. Sure gets noisy.

We do not encourage anyone to ride out a hurricane in their boat.

Come and let's talk about getting ready for the storms.

Semper Fi,

Tom Vandiver 572-1225
