OK fer those folks more technical then I am (95 % of ya'll:doh)...
The other day I launched my boat and went to crank it and it would not turn over. I kept trying and listened carefully. I heard a slight click w/ every turn. I held the key in the start position and each time only heard 1 click. My last motor was a 2 stroke and if I remember correctly when the celenoid was bad in it, it would give off several clicks when turning it over. So the ??? is sounds like a starter or celenoid or both??? After it was running and I would shut it off it gave no problems starting back up. Also when I got back to the launch, I tried to turn the ignition off and the motor would not shut off. I tried wiggling it, pulling the safety lanyard and nothing. I then popped the latches on my cowl and as soon as I pulled it off it shut off:doh My though was since that was the day I got swamped several times I figured water got into the switch and shorted it until it dried out???? It has done this on 1 other occassion. Any input is appreciated:letsdrink:grouphug:letsdrink |

if in fact you got swamped with water and it made it into the cowling, i would say you have water in some of the connectors on the engine,,, like the 10 pin main wire harness. even though there is an oring there, or in your case is there... should be pretty easy to diagnose though... i would be glad to talk you through anything you need .. or you can bring it to me...

Also need to check the main harness where it passes through the cowling. If it is routed incorrectly or you trim your motor very high when on the trailer. It could have some damaged wires rightthere, seen it more than a couple of times. Especiallysince it reacted as soon as you took pressure off it, by poping the cowling. I may be wrong, but it is worth checking.outbrdwrench.
