Default yamaha 40 hp 2-stroke

i recently purchased a used '02 40 hp 2-stroke yamaha, andi dont have the owners manual. can anyone tell me what the setting should be for the enrichment switch i.e. normal, open, and closed. and if can tell me if there is a way to test the oiling system, it would be great, i would like to stay on top of maintenace.hopefully someone has an answer before i get a shop manual. thanks in advance.

the valve needs to be in the normal position for operation. Use the open position for pull starting the unit to open or activate the choke, then put it in normal. If you have a problem where the "choke" valve is not closing properly, then you can close it.

For starting the engine, use the primer bulb first. Then, turn the key to start the unit. It will take about 6 to 8 seconds to activate the enrichener and the engine will run. Do not use the throttle or the engine will not start or will take a while to start.

To test the oil operation, you can pull the oil line on the outgoing side of the oil pump and run the engine shortly to see if it pumps oil. There is an oil consumption test, but I have not seen one of these go bad. Yamaha's oiling system is very good on these engines.
