Got an 19' sitting on a trailer. The carpet is gone on one runner, and threadbare on the other.
I now have two, nice, cut pieces for the pieces the boat sits on. If I can figure out how to jack it up on one side and then the other, I'll need some way of fastening the new carpets down. What's are some good ways of doing that? |

We use stainless staples in an electric stapler to make quick work of it.
To Jack up the boat we used to use a piece of 6"x6" lumber that we cut a notch out of to match the center v deadrise of the hull. We would place it on a strong hydraulic jack at the edge of the hull and transom bottom center and jack up the boat. Now we have a 5 ton gantry crane that we can lift the boat off the trailer with straps.

OK. Guess I'll have to rent a nailgun and fill it with the right stuff -- stainless nails.
The nailgun would be much quicker and give me useable space. For the "get the trailer off and repair it that way": that part may work out fine, but I still needed to know what to use to fasten it down. Again, the nailgun with stainless sounds good. |
