Default self bailing deck

I have an old school boat that I'm doing quitea bit of work on. Is it possible to put some scuppers in and make it a self bailin deck.

Or would that just be stupid.

you can if your deck level is above the water line while at rest.

That is what I have plans to do. Like mentioned above the need of a deck above the waterline is (IMO) a must. In my case I only need a drain as the deck is well above the waterline (14") which is below a dive platform. Now to get the courage of drilling two 1-1/2" holes.:banghead:banghead No problem after a lot of thought, measuring, thought, measuring, thought........

Mine doesn't have scuppers, but it does have 2 plugs where you would normall put scuppers. I can pull them while I am running (obviously this entails putting the plug in on the inside) so that as I run, the water will drain (there's normally a low-pressure area behind a boat in motion anyway - just like an airplane). Then before I slow, either myself or someone riding with me can put them back in. Just as effective and in my opinion safer than scuppers since I control when they open and control and the only failure point is me forgetting to put them in (come on, who forgets to do that?! LOL).

Cheers-

Chris
