Default Question on gas tank

I have a Mako 191 and have difficulty in filling the gas tank up. It seems to be worse when the boat is in the water. I can seldom insert the gas nozzle fully into the hose and fill anywhere near the full fill rate from the gas tank. I have to back the nozzle out of the hose and run at about 25-30% fill rate. Thus it takes forever to fill the gas tank. In addition, when on the water, I can't fill the tank. I know it needs more gas than I can put in it. Yesterday, while at the marina filling up, the gas was backed up the hose and I could see it sitting there.

Any help would be appreciated.

First thing that comes to mind is the vent for the fuel system. Check that first. Mud dobbers come to mind:banghead My problem is reversed in that I have better fuel flow fueling up on the water vs on trailer. On trailer it spits back...and bad, short 5 gals.

Thanks. I'll take a look at that and see if I can tell anything along those lines.

What year is the Mako?

The way the vent hose lays and the vent itself can have everything to do with it. The design of the fill neck at the tank can too.

the dirt dobbers are for sure your 1st check.

I have seen older fill / vent hoses that looked terrible after they have deteriorated.

The Mako is a 2006. The hose looks good from the outside (looking at in the bow compartment). I am on vacation this week and keeping the boat in the water. Hopefully, when I get back home and on a trailer, I can get a better look with a light, etc.
