Default Oil Injection System

The incoming 2-stroke oil injection lineon my Merc 94' 200HP (non-EFI)has a brass t-fitting about three inches before the motor oiltank. One side of the t-fitting appears to be some type of drain/vent line...it's about 6 inches long and empties into the bottom engine cowling. The other side of the t-fitting goes to the oil tank.

What would cause excess oil to dribble out the drain/vent line? I suspect that eitherthe brass t-fittinghas a faulty check valve or maybe a faulty crank case check valve not releasing pressure on the oil tank after shut down. Any ideas?

The check valve is bad on that "t". Replace it and you'll be fine.

Thanks. After replacing the check valve, do I need to be concerned with priming the lines to work out any air bubbles?

You will not loose enough oil when changing the t fitting. The system will fill back normal. If you notice that the engine oil tank is down more than 1/2 an inch, then you should burp the system. To do so, run the engine for 2-3 minutes on the flusher and loosten the engine tank cap a little. Watch the oil level rise until it reaches the bottom of the cap neck, then tighten the cap. You may have a little bit of oil come out until you tighten the cap.... just wipe it up.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like a cheap fix.
