Default No Fuel in bowl on 9.8 Nissan

A couple of months ago I took the carb apart because no fuel was getting to the bowl, I opened the bowl drain and only a few drops came out. The inside was very clean, no build up and the float looked really good with no sticking. I did not see any trash that may have caused a plugged up hole but I did run a wire through everything. I saw nothing wrong with it but I am not a very good carb guy. There was no varnish in the carb.

It ran fine when I put it back together although I only used it maybe twice for a very short period of time. Today it is doing the same thing, no fuel in the bowl. It cranked on the first pull, ran 50 yards then died. It has the original fuel line and tank and it sits in water. The filter is clear.

Any ideas? I did unscrew the jet and screwed it back in but didn't blow it out or run a wire through it. What would cause it to clog up again so quick. Not using E10.

Pull the fuel hose off the carb. and lightly squeeze the primer bulb. If you are getting fuel to the carb. then the only thing it can be is a stuck needle on the float. Very close tolerance so it doesn't take much to stick it.

Try not to use the E10.

My boat did this. It was the fitting at the tank broke and was letting air in. Put a new fitting on the tank all new fuel lines and its been fine ever sense.

Exactly, Pink! Had the same thing happen to my dad's boat. Try another tank and see if that fixes your problem.

Cheers-

Remove fuel line from engine, pump bulb once and hold while inserting a nail or such in the engine end (to move ball off seat). release nail and do same until , fuel comes out the end andbulb gets hardor not. If not then check fittings, pick up tube and hose. If you do have fuel do as above and remove line to carb and test.

Thanks for the replies!

The fuel is getting to but not into the carb. I can take off the hose from the carb and pump fuel into the air intakes and it will run for a second or two. No fuel is getting to the bowl. Must be the float but it looked spotless last time I took it apart. I guess I will take it apart and use carb cleaner on it and see if that helps. Maybe there's some gunk in the hole that the float valve goes into. I tried the ultra-high-tech float de-sticking procedure but it still didn't work after a few taps with a hammer.

Take bowl off, let float drop (make sure needle drops with float), bump bulb..If no fuel remove carb, remove float, remove needle seat and see if you can now pump fuel through. Don't blow up into the needle seat, let anything come out.

look at the fuel line. make sure the arrow is pointing towards the engine. easy on some motors to hook up that fuel line backwards.
