Default Nissan 90 HP Problem

<SPAN id=_ctl1_ctlPrivateMessage_ctlPanelBar_ctlPrivateM essageRepeater__ctl1_lblFullMessage>Took the boat out for maden voyage after successfull sea trial and after running(great) it wouldn't crank After it cooled down awhile it sounded like it wanted to start but didn't..It has plenty of fire and fuel getting to filter on side of motor&gt;&gt;&gt;any thoughts/ideas I can try before I take it in? I am thinking there may be another fuel pick up between engine side mounted fule filter and carbs...any Nissan knowlegeable folks out there? Appreciate any thoughtsoffered.

Thanks for you help!

If it is stumbling as it tries to start, there may be water in the fuel system. I would do a compression check to start for the heck of it.

Well, this morning the motor started and I ran her for 15 min and no propblems...then started her several times after and ran fine..maybe vapor lock somewhere in the fuel system...hope problem solved...one other thing, I replace service fuel line with a 3/8 instead of 1/4 inch line from manufacture...could this made a difference? I did that because the 3/8 was all I could find on short notice..Should I put back 1/4 fuel line...didn't think it would make a difference as long as engine recieved steady flow of fuel..

I would go with the original size. If it is the fuel line from the tank to the engine, I would go with no bigger than 5/16". Usually 1/4" supply line on a 90hp is small. The mfg will use 1/4" after the fuel pump.

Double D, Thanks for the advice...it is the service fuel line from the tank to motor I changed from 1/4 in to 3/8 in a desperate attempt to get on the water. Boaters world smallest fuel line was 3/8...By what you say I may be ok with 3/8 inch but should switch back to manufactured size...correct?

usually what will happen when there is too large of a supply line, the fuel pump cannot generate a large enough or high enough vacuum to pull the fuel to the engine. This will in turn cause loss of fuel or vapor lock. If you need smaller fuel line, check with Kenny at Emerald coast or an auto parts store. Usually the marine hose is much better than what you get at the auto places.

What you say makes alot of sense as I believe vapor lock was the culprit...I'll try GB Marine first as they are very close..Thanks again I think you nailed/solved my problem....and thanks to Chris for such an awesome sight that enabled such great results!!!!

I'll let you how it turns out and if youdon't mind coming over to Oreole Beachand want to do some evening fishing in the soundjust let me know...I just purchased this 18ft heavy gauge alum custom semi V set up for flounder sticking...just gettin my feet wet on smaller boat..I've been fishing off shore with my 22 WA but lover to go out for a few hours in the evening...
