Default Need advise on reinforcing the deck of our boat to accomodate a Tuna Tower.

We have a tower that we want to mount to our boat and I am looking for advise on how to reinforce the deck to accommodate the additional weight of the tower. The boat is a 73 Chaparral 244. All responses are welcome.

Thanks,

Scuba

where are you going to mount it exactly? I have a tower on a '78 24 Topaz, and it is mounted to the gunnels and the front deck of the cuddy - we just put backing plates on it and bolted it down - no reinforcements to the deck or gunnels. The tower has been on the boat 3 years now and hasn't had any issues - my decks and gunnels are balsa cored so we were sure to seal them up real well!!
