Default The Maintenance Shoppe

Just wanted to let everyone know The Maintenance Shoppe is a great place for anything boat or PWC related. Gavin and Jeremy are top notch and will go the extra mile in terms of service, standing behind their work, and technical expertise.

They did some great work on my boat and I have lots of pics. I've used them for cosmetic repairs, wiring and stereo, engine work, trailer work, etc.

Default RE: The Maintenance Shoppe

This is my First post since the Board Changed. I've been part of this community for 5 years +. I'm also a Good Client to those who have worked on my Boat. In all my Experiences TMS is the worst. I had to pipe in cause someone told me aboutTMS advertising with my boat and the wonders he did. He never got it working right and it cost me allot. Some problems took a a while to showup, and where bad.

Beware of Gavin, He's been considered a Blessing by some, and Curse by others.

He's talented, but has no problem tackling problems he probably shouldn't be doing. Very Arrogant in my opinion. He's worked on my first boat forone job, a little expensive, and he didn't do everything right, but I just wanted to fish and things where working. I pick him cause everyone was 4 weeks out, he was readily available. Next boat next problem, I got hosed. I do not trust TMS ( Gavin Parks, owner ?), and I bet I'm not the only one! I would have sued him if my time wasn't more valuable by pursuing goals with my own family and business. I know the old West Marine on Barrancas (now consolidated with the one by outcast) stopped recommending him when the complaints piled up. My experience was just one of many he had to sort through ( Parts were boat at West Marine).

HasTMS changed since he moved into a real shop?

I recently ran intoaguyand talked about boating. He mentioned a creampuff 2005 24' Searay for $24,000+ (guessTMS brokers boats now). He told me it just needed a new lower boot or something or other. I rolled my eye's andtold to just be wary, he might be ok, but that is not my experience. Sure enough at closing, the boat turned out to be a 2001 Searay, Gavin never told him it was a 2001, he said it was a 2005, this guy was smart enough to read the details. Another wise well respected Pensacolian that will now clear steer of TMS.

Supposly Gavin just found out that day the boat was not a 2005, but a 2001. Is this True Gavin?

Anyhow, Glad It worked out for you. I couldn't tell what he did for you by looking at your pictures. I recommend Mark Gilmore who actually got my Boat workingafter Gavin just cashed checks, and blamed others for why my boat wouldn't run. Emerald Coast Marine Also was very helpful in Undoing Gavins Work thatcould have been catastrophic.

Be wary when dealing with TMS ( and or Gavin) and make sure everything is clear upfront, including the price of the work, and exactly whatTMS will do, His markupon parts can be very high ,so do your homework. I have a very extensive paper trail on my issues with him when I considered suing him.

Beware with TMS. There are better alternatives.

I had some problems with work he did on my boat. Airport marine here in B'hamreworked some and Scott Brownreworked the rest. I would notrecommend him to work on anything.

If people give recommendations, shouldn't they also give warnings. After all, working forums for business should be atwo edge sword.

Ifpeoplewant to do business with TMS, fine.I was fine with him my initial go around. I have at least Ten thousand + reasons why he will never touch my boat again. Some of the work he did was fine, but allot of the other work.........My blood pressure still shoots up when I think about it. I hope the undoing of Gavins work on my boat is now over.

I had my boat worked on by Gavin, and he did me a good job. I just have a small 17' aluminum boat with little accessories, and everything is working fine that he fixed. I also will be ordering some electronics from him in the near future. I shopped his prices, and he beat everyone, including the internet on my parts. I would definatly recommend him to anyone. Top Notch work, quick turnaround, and did not give me the runaround as to what the problem was. He told me exactly what caused my problem and how to keep it from happening again.

Thanks Gavin and TMS.

Guys I hate to see someone get flamed on the forum but I don't think my opinion is more important than anyone else's.I just made the post because they did a ton of work for me and I was very pleased and wanted to pass it on. For instance Jeremy, Gavin's right hand man, met me at the shop today (Sunday- they are closed)soI could pick up my boat. He went up there during his time off just to help me out soI could get out on the water today instead of making me wait for the shop to open tomorrow to go get my boat. He did not want to accept money for this either.

Bottom line- I posted because they did a ton of work for me and I was well pleased and wanted to recommend them. Like I said- my opinion is no more important than anyone else's. I gave mine on a public forum expecting feedback. Sorry not everyone had as much luck with them as I did. Tight lines all...
