Does anyone know where the best place to find gear oil for your foot and a good pump would be? Can it be picked up at the local Wal Mart? I drained my oil out a month or so back and still havent filled it back up. I'm itching to go fishing... Thanks? Jason

What does a pump typically cost and is it a special type pump? Ive seen the red pumps at walmart, but I dont know if they are strictly for syphoning gas. Its a 1981 25 horse Evinrude.

You need that spring loaded pump like they sell at Walmart that screws right onto the quart bottle of gear oil. I believe it's made by Lubrimatic. It's a piece of cake to do.
I think the pump is about 6 bucks and the lube is about $3. I'm pretty sure directions are on the pump. If not, check back in here. |

definately go to walmart back around the automotive section...i got mine there and love it, it screws onto the gear oil bottle and you screw it into the lower fitting on the foot (drain) and pump till it comes out of the top i'm pretty sure they sell one for johnson and evinrude and one for mercury etc...

If you have a Yamaha, and possibly others you will need an adapter for the Lubri Matic pump, which I've not seen at Wal Mart, but picked up one at Boaters World. I'm sure you can get them at other places, but that was the closest to me.

I know this will start a debate, but I wouldn't use the Lubri Matic gear Lube. Stay with the OEM.

O.K. I'll bite, why not? I've been using the same little el-cheapo Lubri-Matic pump for over 12 years. Used on a '96 Oceanrunner for several years, then two Yamaha 150's and currently on an F200 Yamaha and have loaned it to many friends to use. All it is required to to is transfer fluid from the container into the LE, what can and OEM pump do that this pump can't?
