How do you take care of holes in an aluminum boat say from an old transom mount transducer? Does it take a welder? I have never messed with an aluminum boat before. But a friend asked me to help install a new transducer and I didn't know of any special instructions/care that needed to be done for an aluminum boat.

That is one way. When I have a rivet that has worked loose I use a pan head bolt, thread through the skin, use a rubber washer that comes on metal roofing screws, and screw the bolt in and cap off with a nut. Picture if you want.

I filled my holes with JB weld then sanded down a few days later.

Take a look at this. The holes under the piece of Starboard can be sealed with JB weld or 4200,5200. Your going to be putting more holes in the boat to do this type of mount, but once it's on there you will not be drilling in the boat again, even if you upgrade down the road. ![]()
