Default '81 Evinrude/ Prop Questions

I have a 14' Terry aluminum bass boat with an '81 Evinrude 35. I also have 2 props that I have different issues with and I cant decide which one is best for the boat.

10-1/2X11- It actually seems like the better of the 2 but it runs the engine at a higher RPM and with what seems like a lower top speed. And its in rougher condition (bought it as a backup for another boat I had a few years ago).

10X13- Its in newer condition and is the prop that was on the boat when I bought it off an individual back on '01. But it gives me more performance issues. When at full throttle the RPMs seem to be quite a bit lower on the engine after getting on plane. It takes it longer to get on plane because if I throttle up too fast or if I turn too sharp, I cant figure out which, but it either spins on the hub or it blows out and free-spins.
This one is on the boat right now and just for S&G I had my boy try to spin the prop while I held the flywheel. I can hear what sounds like rubber slipping just slightly. Im pretty sure I shouldnt be hearing that so Im thinking the hub spinning may be the issue. Im going to mark it the next time I take it out and see for sure.

Whats got me puzzled the most though is the difference in the engine RPMs. I would think that at full throttle with either prop, they should be roughly the same. Is that correct or would that 2 degrees make a difference. Ive been told by another gentleman I might look at rebuilding the engine. A few years ago the starter literally fell apart on me so I have been pull-starting it ever since. And it doesnt have a nice self-retracting pull cord. Oh no, its got that old hook-the-knot-and-wrap flywheel. The individual watched me pull start it one day and said the compression must be low because I shouldnt be able to pull a 35hp as easily as I did. I kind of passed him off as a sissy because I generally can choke it and pull it 5 or 6 times and have it running after sitting for days or months. I wouldnt think if it had low compression I would be able to start it that easy.

If its the hub spinning, is that something I can fix myself or should I take to someone? If I take to someone, who would that be? No one here in Crestview or Ft. Walton does it that I have found.

the different size props will make a difference on the RPM its like gear on a car the lower the pitch the higher the RPM and more torque it will have get you up on plane faster but lose of top speed and just the opposite with a higher pitch prop you will have to first fix the 13 pitch prop from slipping on the hub to see which prop is better for ya I would find a middle of the road prop that will get ya up with a load and run easy it would be better on gas that way the hub can be fixed on most props but might be quicker and easer to just but a new /used on/. the canvas shop (that is the name of the company it is in the phone book) can get you a prop cheaper than any one I know of brand new at cost. as for the compression that is easy to check go to auto zone and buy a compression gauge pull the spark plug and install the gauge spin the motor over a couple of times you should be 80- 120 PSI less than that you might want to re ring the motor hope this helps

Thanks for the info, guys. I had no idea what the compression was supposed to be. I wont get to check it before going back to work, but I will definitely look into those places and see whats available in props and check the compression when I get back.
