The trigger/timer base is for timing advance. It is under the flywheel in the center with the stator. If you look at the throttle advance, you will see the top of the throttle arm hooked to it with a small rod. If you move the throttle arm, it moves too. On two units, the engines would do fine at low speeds, but at higher speeds, they would start missing or lose cylinders all together. When I took them off, they had cracks in them at one sensor coil and was causing the problems. Last year I also had one that would kill the spark at just off idle and the engine would die, or would not start when in slight fast idle to warm up.

Maybe the timer base is the next thing to look at, it did the same thing yesterday. Ran fine all the way to the pass then just died down to 3000. That long trip back to Navy Point. This time it did miss a little and even tried to surge a couple of times like it was going to run as it should.

To definetly rule out any gas/line, vent or anything else to do with fuel, I got a 6 gal tank, hose to go with it and filled it up. Back to the dock, re-lauch and ran the carb,s dry from the fuel that was in them. Even after cooling off with the drive to West Marine, setting up and filling up the little tank,it would'nt get over 3000 rpms.

Another weekend shot, no snapper yet, or anything else for that matter.

Got it back from Will's and they said the dyno showed what I had said it was doing and they found that one cylinder stopped getting gas. They finally got it to suck on through the motor and it was running fine. I took it home and over the weekend took all 3 carbs off to clean out the bowls to try to prevent another episode. Nothing in them and I installed an in-line filter to help stop this from occurring again. Will see what it does this weekend.

Going to add a water sperator thanks to ethanol to try to eliminate another futer problem. Do you mount them before or after the primer bulb so the motor will suck the gas through it?

Did you make sure to clean out all the jet holes in the carb? The bowl doesn't have to have anything in it to cause a problem. You could of had a very small piece of trash that pluged a jet. Get a 10 micron 90gph fuel water seperator and put it before the primer bulb. That may help your problem.

If it does it again try removeing the engine cowl and rubbing ice on the power pac 'til its is cold and crank up. If it runs okay the the power pac is getting hot and breaking down.
