I have always been taught in automotive a/c theory if it is 20 degrees cooler that is all you should expect. Not saying I agree but I think it all depends on size of house what size unit you have. Most rentals get the cheapest unit they can. I know I am not comfy with 80 degrees. Hope u get it worked out.

Call a local A/C company and ask if they are participating in the Gulf Power "check Me" program. It hs a $50 dollar instant rebate for an A/C inspection. Depending on what is wrong there are other rebates offered. you can call Gulf Power and get a list of companies in your area and what rebates are available. I had my system checked last week and cost me $49. Tech even added a little r22 at no charge.

Okay, another rant..... The inside evap unit was replaced in March when we first moved in.... so the system was emptied, vacuumed ( I assume they vacuumed it ), then re-charged. Today the guy was here for bout 5 mins, said the system was over charged so he "adjusted" it.... How the heck was it over charged when there is a leak at the evap?????????????? I just went and checked the evap unit, grabbed the lines to feel temp and came up with oil on my hand from the high side solder joint....... So will someone tell me how it could have been over charged when its leaking??? AA Air Conditioning is the company that has been working on it. I wasnt going to say that until I found out if any of them were forum members, but after finding that leak I figured I would say who has been working on it. They have been out here twice and have yet to fix it.. I am sure they are charging the company each time....... Dont use that company cause they have no clue..... Thats like me having a customer come in with a flat tire and telling him his problem is too much air!

Sorry for the rants, but I am hot and cranky....... obviously this company thinks I dont know any better.... must think we are stupid or something......

This is what I think happened.... The rental company lady already told me that 80 degrees is as cool as its going to get on a hot day.... she already thinks I am stupid and doesnt have a clue about air conditioning.. I imagine she told the air conditioning company that we were complaining about the A/C for nothing and that it was probably working fine.... So they sent the guy out here figuring we were complaining bout nothing and he sat out back by the condensor for a few mins, then came around and said "All Fixed!" figuring if we thought he fixed something then we would think it was working properly...... Bet ya a hundred bucks that what happened.... Little do they know I do know a little bit about air conditioning.... I done spent about an hour checking stuff, and cleaning the condensor..... I think I am going to take an hour of my time, at my normal shop rate, off my rent for my time.... thats fair isnt it??

Wish I had a big 3 foot diameter piece of hose or something... I could slip it over my condensor and point it in the window.. the air coming off the condensor is cooler then the air coming from the vents....

My electric bill is probably twice the normal amount due to this A/C running constantly for the last month or so..... think I can get some of that back off the rent??

And to all that, we are supposed to be having a heat wave this weekend...... sheesh..

The 20 degrees should be the temp difference between inlet and outlet vents. When I did A/C on cars, we expected a 40 degree drop between outside temps and inside temps... so on a 100 degree day you should be able to get your car air conditioning vent temp down to 60.... course that was years ago and with R12 refrigerant..... My car would blow 40 degree vent temps on a 90 degree day.......

Houses are different from cars. A car has all that glass which makes it more like a greenhouse.. holding temp in more...... houses dont have all that open glass to give that effect, so a house should cool better.....
