Who would have know just five short years ago when you came into our home that we could love a four legged critter so much. You were so tiny then we couldn't even fathom the idea that one day you would grow up and become a vicious protector of the family. We never could have guessed just how much time and work you put into us, making sure the kids were safe and didn't leave the yard, going out of town and watching my truck while i was on the job, keeping mommy safe at night when you couldn't come with me. How as soon as i left for work you also clocked in guarding the fort while i was gone. Oh how Athena, just how did you take all those years of the kids pulling your ears and poking you in the butt?
Athena girl, how we miss you so much already. How i miss you sleeping by the bed, The truck rides we used to take to get you a sack of tater chips, how people would cross the street to the other side when we took you for walks. Athena we miss your loyalty, devotion and bravery you showed. You were definantly a one of a kind dog, no you didn't need to catch balls, or jump through hoops, you had personality and that's what made you great. I know your great because this keyboard is soaking wet and it probably will be for some time. Everytime i close my eyes i see you looking at me as you took your last breath as to say it was ok, but you knew i wasn't giving up for the fifteen minute car ride i performed CPR all i could think about was how much we needed you. Athena you were more than just a dog to us you were just as much our family as any of our children. Since i didn't get to say it yesterday, Athena Thank you, thank you for all you have done and all you mean to our family you may be gone but you will never be forgotten. WE LOVE YOU GIRL! :reallycrying :reallycrying :reallycrying :reallycrying ![]() |

I feel your pain also, I just had to put my Choc Lab down this afternoon. She had a huge brain tumor and it just got the best of her. It is amazing how attached you can get to furry critters.

I understand your loss and am truly sorry you had to go thru this. When I lost my buddy "BO", I would have gladly traded a few years off my life to have added 1 more to having him with me.:angel

Sorry to hear about your Dobie. My dobie "C.C." just passed away last night as well. She was 12 and we've had her since she was 5 wks old. Everyone at home is pretty upset about it. My daughters are 11 and 13 and she has been such a huge part of our family as well and probably the best dog I've ever owned.
