The Constitution means nothing to this administration, to him its just some thing a buncha white guys wrote down a while back, he fails to see the genius in it.
For 32 years guns have been banned in D.C. but in 2008 the D.C. Council passed the "emergency law" the week after the Supreme Court threw out its 32-year-old handgun ban. Of course that was in 2008 and under this dictatorship we now have a different set of agendas. They was after new jersey guns ammunition, the first step of control, , but thanx to allot of concerned citizens and the good old NRA its on hold now. "Big Win" for New Jersey Gun Owners: Ammo Ban on Hold For some reason they do not want the law abiding citizen to have guns, but yet they feel they need to arm middle eastern rebels and Mexican drug cartels. As for right now I don't see any signs they will be taking our guns in the near future, hell if any thing we are getting more rights back for the 2end amendment.

During the days after Katrina, many LEO's were demanding and confiscating weapons around New Orleans leaving citizens defenceless against the marauding, looting feral apes. The NRA busted some butts over that with settlements in the millions. That was one of the most blatent violations of civil rights in recent history.

As a Vet myself, I understand the difficulty in executing orders sometimes and have struggled with some I wish I had nod obeyed, but I don't think our Military would take and order to forcefully disobey the Constitution very well. They are not following orders if they don't and subject to UCMJ laws for that, but are breaking the rules of the Constitution if they do also part of the UCMJ???? Catch 22? Either way I don't worry too much about it since I have no Firearms.

Thomas Jefferson quotes
No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. Thomas Jefferson The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. Thomas Jefferson The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Thomas Jefferson

My opinion is this: The fact that I own guns will guarantee that I continue to own them, at least until my death.

the 2nd amendment is a individual right just like all the others.
I do see registration followed by confiscation in our future with the unqualified activist Obama is staking the courts with. only a fool will register all his guns

Might be interesting for your class to look at the demographics of gun control support. I remember a vote on a gun law referendum in MD that passed because all the urban counties supported it and all the rural counties opposed it. Rural counties outnumbered the urban counties, but it was a statewide vote, clash of lifestyles and attitudes.
