If it's while you are on this forum only during prime time it's the forum. If it's all the time it's your computer.

Here is a good site for a speed test. Select the city closest to your location. No viruses or malware. This is strictly a speed test. I've been using it for years.

What type of service do you have? What kind of speeds does your ISPadvertise? My ISP advertises up to 12 Mbps download. The advertised download rate is in megabits. My results were 11.40 Mbps download and 0.95 upload. The transferrates, in bytes, are listed just below the above results.(A bit is a single numeric value, either '1' or '0', that encodes a single unit of digital information. A byte is a sequence of bits; usually eight bits equal one byte.) The transfers rate is the actual number of bytes that are transfered from one place to another. I my case, the transfer rates were as follows:

Download Speed: 11403 kbps (1425.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 950 kbps (118.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

To get an accurate idea, run the speed test three times in a row. Also, the speeds will vary according to the time of day. I find that mornings and early evenings are the slowest. After midnight is the best time to surf the internet.

Besides software, hardware factors also affect the transfer rates. These can be modem, connectors, splitters, and corrosion on outside box connection.
