My sons PS3 won't do anything but display an error message and he is freaking out.I went to game stop and the guy told me Sony is going through an update and if you have an older model (Not slim) it required the update and started a timer that would not let you do anything until they finish the update.Just wondering if anybody else is having this problem?

I was having that problem also about a month ago. I called Sony because my PS3 wouldn't do the update. They told me my PS3 hard-drive was probaly bad and needed a new one. I told them I wouldn't buy one and they should fix mine. After much arguing and talking to about 10 people, they finally caved in and sent me another PS3 and I haven't had any problems with it. I even got to move all my pics and videos off my old one onto the new one. Sony will cave in if you are persistent enough.
