Default NEED HELP FROM A WESTSIDER

Called big German, aka emeraldcozy, and he got me started. I located the silonoid (sp?) but it is not like a normal one. If someone can call me and help I will drive to the meeting in Milton.

Should be a simple fix but I'm just to darn dumb to trouble shoot. I'm guessing less then an hour fix.

Symptoms are drove the truck to the house. Went to get gas and motor will not turn over. Battery is 100% charged. My guess is Silinoid or starter.

Everything else works. WIndows, lights, radio, locks etc....

When I turn the key switch it just goes CLICK. Markus told me about bypassing the silinoid but it doesn't have prongs so I don't have a clue on how to do it. It has clip harness, best way I can describe it, on the silinoid.

DAMN, forgot my # is 457-8783.

On your old truck Murph it is a simple fix. take off the battery cable and two bolts and slide her out of there. I just replaced the starter in my old truck and it was like $69 for a new one from Auto Zone.

:doh:doh How about, on that year truckokeoke You make it sound older then me.oke

Come on Sam..... After walking Murph through the diagnosis, do you think I left him hangingoke That is exactly what I told Murph. Only problem.....

1) All Murph's tools are on his boat and you know where his boat is...Scotts

2) Truck won't start, can't get it up on ramps.

3) Can't get under to remove starter (like me won't fit under)

4) Suggested, jack up, block up under tire.

Not a 15-30 minute job once everything is at hand.

First replacement starter in over 200,000 miles, now I call that service.

Well here is the scoop. Wahoo Dan called and gave me some pointers and EmeraldCozy stopped by on his way home from work. Marcus and I was able to get the truck on the ramp to lift the truck up some. Marcus confirmed that it was the starter. He had his tools in his truck and took off the starter.

Hooked the starter to an extra boat battery to confirm and NOTHING. Called all the stores and all say the same price. $104 WITH the core $134 without.

Once I know where and what to do now I'm going to call all the junk yards and see what there prices are.

I just hate that I missed the bash over at the oval office. :reallycrying

Boat is at Niki's house, but I will not get on the bike if I have had over 3 beers.

Murph...one possibility for you, better then a "junk yard" starter might be...Call around to the re-builder shops and get a price. I'd go that way before I put on a used, and unknown condition starter. But you know me...I'd tear it down and look inside.

There is a major marine starter rebuilder on Navy Blvd. at Chiefs Way real close to the NAPA store.

http://www.arcomarine.com/

If they do not do automotive, they should be able to steer you to the best place in town.

Connections are clean. Starter is dead.

Ron, Dan told me the same thing and gave me the location. I need to have the truck for when it rains because of having to drive to O.B. everyday. Guess I'll pay the extra $50 and get the 3 year warranty. Truck probobly will not last that long anyways.

Hell Found a crack in my transmission line while under the truck. Guess I'll just duck tape it. :doh
