Default RE: Need help Dodge Cummins Engine

sorry I didn't see this sooner Ron, another way that has worked for me when I didn't have WD-40 on my Cummins was to energize the pump when it's electrical or to bump the ignition over on the older B series mechanicals and with the injector line fitting cracked on the injector side to prime fuel back to the injector, it gets a bit messy but it works. I've had to do it that way when I had acontaminated fuel system on aboat I had.

Yea Scott...was hoping that I wasn't going to have to do it that way....messy isn't the word for it:banghead...But I left home this AM and made sure (hopefully) I had everything I thought I'd need:banghead.........EXCEPT for the damn keys to the 5th wheel, didn't notice them not with me untill I got to (and this is a actual exit off of I-65) Horse Pens 40...about 2/3 of the way there, but all worked out just fine.clap:clap

Tuna Man (10/14/2008)OK for a update in case anyone should come up with the same situation. Picked up the injector line this morning and headed to the truck. Had the line installed in less then 5 minutes. Had Susan turn the key to the "RUN" posistion...but not engaging the starter. In this position the fuel pump should run for approx 25 seconds, and prime the system. Before I had her turn the key to crank it, I squirted about a second blast of WD-40 into the intake. That sucker busted off before it made a complete revolution. Drove back to Birmingham at 60MPH and got 13 MPG....hauling about 13,000#....I'm a happy camper today. Part $50.00, parking $4.00, gas in second vehicle $50.00....not as badhad it gone to the shop. :clap

By the way thanks for the tips I might of not thought of...Glad I didn't have to resort beyond what I thought would take care of the problem.
Part $50.00

Parking $4.00

Gas $50.00

18" Bass - PRICELESS

Now that is

Something I want add. At the time I didn't know if the truck would preform as needed or not, since I was towing 13,000#'s. If you were stuck as I was, you can take the line off, crush (pinch off) the fuel line, thus inhibit fuel flow through that line. Replace the line onto the injector rail/pump and drive it. I have a 6 cylinder thus would be running on 5. I did ask the diesel mechanic yesterday and he assured me that it would of in fact pulled the trailer, and not of been a problem I'd just of had a miss (:dohto be expected). I didn't want to do that Saturday as I had a way to get home, repair the line, and return on Tuesday, should I of had a problem getting a new line. Could of gone back Monday but Susan had her first chemo treatment and it took 4 hours.
