I went over to see Daddy last week before Gustav. On Tuesday, gas was $3.34 in Wiggins. By Thursday it was $3.69. Now, I can usnderstand it going up a little, even moderate. But .35 in 2 days? I call BS!! Now, himacane is gone, oil is dropping everyday per barrel, the facilities are coming back online, no gas lines, no panic buying. Yet, they won't even ATTEMPT to come down. WTF!?!?

Worse yet, look at the prices of fuel when oil was just above $100/barrel a few months ago: barely cresting the $3/gallon mark. I know that there is no direct correlation between oil cost and gasoline cost, but there sure is no justification (other than greed) for the higher fuel costs that still linger. Demand is falling, so rather than letting prices correct, the companies opt to lower production in order to keep prices high.:banghead

In our town, reguler 87 is at $3.79 per gallon. When I drive N 19 miles, regular 87 is $3.63. I don't get it either. Our town is where the port is so they cannot tell me its because of the transport cost. I think its mishandled after it gets priced for distribution. During Ivan, they were cracking down on the stations that were gouging the prices. Maybe I'm wrong.

I agree w/all of the above. But...you can buy it or not.....free market. OR....we could mandate (BIG GOV'T) prices. Or is there a 3rd choice?????? I don't know of one, but if YOU do, I'd love to hear it!!!!!!

Now on local TV this morning they were saying the terminals in Freeport and Panama Citywere dry. The problem THEY say is the disruptions of the barrage traffic in the intercostal waterways. So the price might not change until they get some gas in the tanks, unless astation hauls it in by truck and then a short term price jump. Just MHOP.
Hey no barrages, no gas, use what you got locally then wait for some more. |
