Default Internet provider

What providers do y'all recommend? I have tons of devices connected all the time. The internet is slow and usually doesn't load pages properly . when I turn everything off except for one computer its still has this issue I have the second from the fastest that mediacom offers. Do y'all think this is a router / modem issue or the provider.
thanks
I live in milton

more likely a router. do a speedtest.net check direct from the modem to the computer. then hook the router up and check the speed, compare the results, also do a ping test for packet loss. every device that is on that router will share the connection equally unless u use a QOS.

Judging by my service I'd say its the crappy ISP. Its bad when you know the Mediacom tech's on a first name basis and even have a cell number for one...4 trips a year minimum and not once been a problem in the house!!!!

Get away from the combo unit, they tend to be junk imo. a good motorola docsis 2.0 or 3.0 if they have upgraded to the 3.0 system (doubt it) should be good. Can you ping a website without any packet loss? Oh and yes the milton mediocrecom system is junk. Eddie Arnold ran that system into ground years ago its pretty much beyond repair, all other cable companies have refused to purchase that system because it would have to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up.

UVerse internet is very good. Don't forget that you can play these clowns off of each other for better rates.

My only complaints with Uverse are that I lost outage for a day, have had some serious billing/technical issues, and one of their reps hung up on me during a call. Having said that, all customer service sucks now, whether it be Mediacom, DirecTV, ATT, whatever.

I had ATT DSL for a while, which worked well until they added UVerse which (conveniently for ATT) caused my connection speeds to bottom out.

The modem can make a real difference. Good luck.
