Default Higher taxes on tag renewals and other services beginning 1 Sep, 2009

<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="COLOR: #1f497d">I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a lot of people still have not heard of this. There?s not much information out on it out right now, but my son got an e-mail at Baptist Hospital the other night and I found the information shared below on the Okaloosa and Walton County Tax Collector?s website. In a nutshell, expect to pay more for your car tags after Sep 1, 2009 and more than double for some services such as new vehicle registration and transfer. I just thought you guys might want to know.<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="COLOR: #1f497d"><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="COLOR: #1f497d"><SPAN style="COLOR: #1f497d">http://www.okaloosatax.com/taxcollec...5/default.aspx<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="COLOR: #1f497d"><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="COLOR: #1f497d">http://www.waltontaxcollector.com/fi...creases(1).pdf<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="COLOR: #1f497d"><o></o><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="COLOR: #1f497d">Very respectfully,<o></o><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="COLOR: #1f497d">Tarver<o></o>

Pretty sure its for all counties. A lady here at work told me about it yesterday (Santa Rosa County). She just got her tags renewed. She said you can get a 2 year tag at today's rate. Not sure how far in advance they will let renew though.

I hate to see a rise in taxes on anyone but my heart bleeds for you. No State income tax (I don't have to pay a state income tax here), Alabama has a State income tax. Maybe this will pull the knife out of your back just a little. In February when I renewed my vehicle tags this is what I got hit for.... 1998 GMC Yukon $66.49, and my 2004 Dodge 2500, $148.59 (2005 $256.57), 1994 Miata, $26.86...how are some of those apples?

There was a post about the increased Florida Tag rates a little while back...I'm not real sure but I think the post said <STRIKE>6</STRIKE> 3 months early.

There may not be a state tax, but they beat us to death in other areas...Wanna compare insurance rates... Oh, and here's a good one, does your wait at your favorite restaurant quadruple in the summer...OK, I'm not sure what waiting to eat has to do with taxes, but it's still a pain in the keester...:shedevil

Pretty sure you can renew up to 3 months early. Definitely renew for two years if you have a renewal coming up soon. It was passed in thisyear's statelegislative session so it is state wide.
