I considered that as well.
Here is part of another thread I found on the net regarding this subject. I thought that he said it fairly well. "I see the myriad of ads for running your car on water. They are selling for $49.95 to over $1000. All making enormous claims. And even a few $5000 guarantees. How many have an address where you take the product back if it fails to operate? How many are guaranteeing your engine will not fail prematurely from these devices? One of the major suppliers of these HHO devices has done hard time for scamming people out of their hard earned money. Legitimate products do not take long to end up in legitimate stores. Legitimate stores sell products that give legitimate results or your money back no questions asked. These devices have had legitimate entities test them and they are not being sold by legitimate dealers. That should give anyone a clue as to their value. If they worked Honda would not be spending BILLIONS to make their hydrogen fuel cell vehicle affordable. They would just put a $50 device on an existing Honda Civic and you got an 80 MPG car that would outsell every car on the planet. This has nothing to do with physics or rocket science. It is pure snake oil sales. And PT Barnum has to be sad he was born 100 years too early. " You have to admit, he has a very valid point, just as I said earlier, it is just too easy- The DOD or NASA or HONDA or TOYOTA or GM or FORD would have figured this out already, this process has been around since the 1800's. Remember that if the military could use this technology (if it really worked) they couldsave millions of gallons of fuel, which I can tell you the government would take advantage of. I was in Fallujia in 2004, and our convoys got bombed and attacked so badly that we almost completely ran out of fuel for our humvees etc. If there was an easy technology that could have made our fuel reserves go even 10% farther, we would have been using it! |

I have been doing even more research, since this thread got my mind going. Here is a link to the only un-biased independent test from a reputable source that I have been able to find. It is from popular mechanics. They actually built an HHO generator and installed it in a teat vehicle- NO IMPROVEMENTS in mileage.
I assume that there will be a mythbusters episode dedicated to this topic if there has not been one already. Anyway, here's the link http://www.popularmechanics.com/auto...html?series=19 I do know that the believers in this system will have an excuse for the lack of improvement in this specific test. They are likely to say that it will not be effective on a newer vehicle since the onboard computer will keep the vehicle from running lean enough to notice the difference, but I dont know if that argument has any merit either. |

I'd be afraid of oxidation . Seems to me when you combine H with O, rust will occur .
any chemistry majors out there ? |

By adding only Hydrogen you only gain minimal mpg gain, you have to add a computer board which can be make for only a few bucks that fakes out you O2 sensors. By doing this the computer is telling the truck to call for less gas and that is where the hydrogen comes into play. Less gas and the hyd takes place of thefurl needed to run the vehicle. You can run small items off of 100% hyd. ny buddy has runs his all day long and has not used a drop of gas. You can do this with small items thatdoes not have high horse power engines. As far as car dealers not doing this, they are. They have hydrogen fuel cell cars. There was a patent on this product/concept until the last few years or so.

I for one have one of these hho units in my car. Quite frankly, I like tinkering with anything that saves Me money. This does. It simply requires a bit more maintenance. There are problems that can be solved. I put one on a tractor and immediately eliminated one problem. It doesnt have a computer that dictates how much fuel it takes to run the engine. My son is making one for His motorcycle, and there are a lot of small farmers aruond starting to look into it for machinery. I wont sell them, but I will tell anybody how to make them. That way they can experiment on their own. maybe somebody can perfect it. I am trying.
