Here is one I made tonight, 10.25 inches from a piece of Texas rock. Rock was about 2.5" thick and over 15 inches long and I broke it, 4 inches gone plink!Ive been knapping for just over 4 years. I make points of all sizes, colors and materials. All percussioned, edge flaking by pressure to finish off. If you flint knap, Im in Pace area. Steve Holloway

Some glass. Clovis type piece made from blood red glass tiles, 3/4 thick x 8 and worked down to 3/8 thick and 8 long. Nice piece made for Christmas challenge.
![]() Blue Glass also over 10 inches. ![]() One of the finest pieces Ive made. Featured in December 2009 Flintknapping Calendar.

Here are a few. Mostly Deep South Point types and material. Coastal Plains and Agatized Coral from Florida are my main stone types I use. Although TV Glass, Computer screen glass work very well and predictable. You would be suprised at how strong these pieces are hafted onto a stick, gig, knife or arrowheads. In our area of Pensacola with bays, gulf waterrs and creeks we have whats called SAND... so our ability to find points is a bit tougher than other places, we have no hardpan in mass. Until Florida brings back the IFP (Isolated Finds Program) it is illegal to remove an artifact from FLorida Waters, yes when you find a small piece of pottery, lets say quarter size, it has no monetary value and has been tumbled for hundreds of years in open water yet the State says its illegal to pick it up even recreational activities expose you to this hainus crime! LOL Go talk to Judy Bense, she is the head of it all. She is the one who willhelp put you away for a quarter piece of pottery! Man I rambled.... LOL I dislike rules when my family cant have fun!
More of my pieces... ![]() ![]()

Beautiful work! :bowdown
I have quite a few artifacts I collected in the midwest. It was something I used to enjoy doing frequently. Pretty much gave it up when I moved down here .

Wow, thats some beautiful work. You must have infinite patience. Does the law restricting taking artifacts only apply to waters or if I turn over a garden in my back yard and find an arrowhead or peice of pottery is it illegal to keep those as well?

I used to do Archaeology here in the Southeast for a few years , many years ago , some good lookin' work you got there !! :clap ... as far as indigenous "Local" material , you're probably only going to find "TQ" or "Tallahada Quartzite" to make any points from , and it's pretty rare to find any Cores ... most of the Chert we would find around here was brought in from the States to our North , where there were Mountains ... Decatur , Alabama was one of the most productive places I have ever worked , just along the River , TONS of Lithics !! ... as far as Semi-local , the Suwanee River was pretty good too , Limestone outcroppings over the River everywhere :letsparty ... my friend Darrell has become a pretty good Flint Knapper too , it takes LOTS of patience for sure :banghead

Land Finds: If you own or have permission to collect artifacts or find your 100% Covered!
Navigable waters: State owns the bottom, cold busted! In a creek, river, or even in the open waters of the bays and the gulf, these areas are disturbed. It has been stated that there is NO SIGNIFICANT data to be gained from Artifacts out of context, other than the approximate age and typology of the pieces. These were terms from the Archaeologist themselves, BUT..... If you remove an artifact your a CRIMINAL because its not yours and you cant get permission. When you are fined $75K per offense, call Judy Bense at UWF, she will be the one who caused the penalty! STEVE HOLLOWAY |

You have some very nice things there. What kind of tool do you use to make them. Up here on the Flint River near Albany Ga we find lots of arrow heads and pottery. One of my friends over in Boston Ga has found several fish hooks made from flint.
