I have a $hitty attitude ??? :letsdrink ... NOT !! ... most of you KNOW where I work , and have seen me in action ... Pourman certainly earns his money ... NEVER said I was complaining about tips , because I make LOTS of $$$ ... I simply stated , if you've never done a Service Industry job before , you really have no basis for your arguments :doh ... no matter how many times a week you eat out , with your Chamber of Commerce provided "Tip Tables" :banghead ... I've been in the Industry for quite some time , and have done very well for myself ... I agree with the thread starter , and YES it's happened to all of us ... cheap is just cheap :looser

All the servers and Bartenders are doing is MAKING THEMSELVES LOOK CHEAP. :banghead:banghead
You are costing servers all over the gulf coast that read this fourm. You are showing HOW YOU REALLY feel about the customer. I'll be back in about 3 days if you want to dispute this. One thing I ALWAYS do with a bar tender is not tip them till I leave. I like to see if they are serving me or is just out for money. After the 3-4 beer I will always find out. That will determine if your tip is $2 or $10. And NO Flush2000 you can't pick them out, some maybe by listening to them, but not by the way they are dressed, actor what they order. I can promise you that. |

it all depends on how the waiter/waitress SERVES YOU... i mean, it makes perfect sense
went to Jerry's drive inn (those people are great!) 2 people, $20 dollars worth of food = $10 tip ruby tuesdays(service sucked a fat one!)2 people, $56 dollars worth of grub, $4 dollar tip melting pot(always excelent) 140 bucks worth of food, 40 dollar tip! you have to EARN the money that i'm gonna pay. ooh, and never be rude to your server (at least until after they bring you your food) It's usual not their fault anyways. |

i just wrote a really long post but the system timed me out so i lost it. to sum it up:
maybe not by their clothes or what they look like, but it is possible to tell if someone tips or not. work in the service industry for a few years and i bet you would learn the signs. This is not 100% accurate but is a good indicator. (BTW the richest guy i know will never be seen in anything other than mesh shorts, a t-shirt and tennis shoes...he is a very good tipper and only drinks miller light) 2nd richest guy that i know drives a 1980's VW rabbit and wears velcro shoes from walmart....he is a pathologist. of course you cant tell by what they wear. and even if you can, the amount of money they have does not indicate how much they will tip. you guys wouldnt work for free, and neither should servers. Deeplines: of course they are serving you but they are doing it for money!! Any good server would take care of you no matter if you tip or not. would you work for free? I would never expect a low maintenace customer to tip me big. i didnt earn it. but if you have me running around all night i do not think a decent tip is too much to ask. extraordinary service is rare, and should be graciously rewarded. if you do not tip or are cheap with it, do not expect anything but the minimum from your servers, especially if you are a frequent patron. Dont expect for every body to know your name when you walk in the door. And dont expect extrarodinary service because you think you are special. A server can do many things to make your meal/ night out more enjoyable. take care of them and they will certainly take care of you. if they dont, they are a bad server. I agree with how vs200b tips. that is how i do it. and no, skeeter, i do not have money shooting out of my ass. I do not eat out frequently and plan for the tip when i do. If i dont have the money to tip, i am not going to go out. i am not going to make a server take care of me and not tip them based on how well they did. This doesnt mean i will always tip a lot when i go out, but I make sure i have the money to tip the server with the super human gift of extraordinary service, which is what i think vs200b does. I look really young, so many people automatically assume i will no tip well. when i find a server who gives me great service, you better believe i tip them handsomely. I think there is more involved in the service industry than most people think. it takes a lot to be a good server on a consistent basis. we can debate this over and over on this thread but it is not going to change anyone's opinion on the matter. different strokes for different folks. |

I have a question for those of you that work in the industry.
I was out at Peg Legs the other night with 6 other people. It was busy as usual. Well my beer glass never went empty.....but everybody elses tea sure did. Out of the 6 other people....only 4 ever got a refill (only 1 at that). The other two (both of which work as servers) never once got a refill. There glasses sat empty and we were there for 2 hours. I understand being busy, but if you can keep my beer glass full, why can't you find the time to keep the tea full too. Needless to say nobody else left much of a tip. My question is, what would you have done in that situation? |

Sad to say Konz but tea refills are free while beer is not. I would have asked the server when she brought anouther beer would she please refill my friends tea also. I am not a ass to my servers but will speak up if I think I am being neglected. I tip well based on service and also understand if a place is extremely busy that I may have to wait a litte while but if I am just being ignored I have went as far as to asking anouther waitress for what I need and will give that waitress the tip in person. Like it or not your JOB is to serve your customers, tip or not!
