My cell phone contract with Verizon has expired and I'm thinking about going with a new provider. I want to upgrade to a smart phone with internet acess. Any opinions out there on which company provides the best service at the most reasonable price?

I don't use a Smart Phone but stay the hell away from Nextel. I have a calender just to mark off the days till my contract expires.

Stay with Verizon if you want the best coverage and support not the cheapest but worth it if you do any traveling. Check the forum many posts about providers.

The guy next door to me sells prepaid plans, $40 per month unlimited everything, uses the AT&T network so coverage is good. I wish I wouldn't have resigned my contract. He can't keep phones in his store. Everyone is tired of contracts

For places like Port Saint Joe, Panacea, Saint George Island. These are areas I work, and I am always able to get service in these places. Other providers fall short.
If you only stay in Pensacoal area, or other large towm areas, then yes do look around. I think Walmart has one of those cheap plans for everything. But I am hooked on Verison service area. Was Alltel, the only providered that worked non-stop after Ivan |

Nextell worked non stop after ivan right here in Pensacola! I like my sprint service, only downfall is some, very few, limited coverage areas. there are none of the hidden fees I experienced at verizon. If you dont mind paying more than a cell phone is worth, imo stay with verizon. I prefer sprint. Have been with them for 8 years, except for the week I tried verizon.
This is just my opinion, I had a boost prepaid with the I1, Loved it for calling and texting, but internet is slow, very slow, 1g slow, lol. But $50 a month with shrinkage, hard to beat! |

Yeah, I had Nextel during Ivan and never did lose service but I'm having horrible problems with them now. I have to have a service that's reliable for travel.

Wirelessly posted
I have T-Mobile, my phone kicks ass and everything is reasonably priced @ around 80 bucks a month for unlimited everything. I do wish the signal was a bit better though.
