I persuaded my office, 6 of us, to go try a new restaurant thatpeople havebeen raving about. Found out they only accept cash, sowe went to another restaurant instead. No-one else in my office even knew this rastaurant existed but I had convinced them we just had to try it. Unfortunately, we won't ever go there as a group now, and most likely none of us will go seperately because none of us carry cash all the time. So here's my question, is it a good idea to be cash only in 2010? Seems like it would cost far more in lost business than it would cost to pay thetransaction fees for credit cards.
What are your thoughts? |

Waffle house was that way until just a few years ago. But no, I don't think it makes any sense. Raise your rates 3%, or give people a cash price and tack 3% or whatever for credit purchases if its that big a deal |

Get ready, With the upcoming tax increases your probably going to see this more often.... Less of a paper trail and cash will soon really be King............ With our "credit" economy, I can see where it would hurt business at first, but you can definantly see it coming.........

i dont mind the cash deal. I always carry cash and only use credit / debit cards if paying bills. CASH IS KING.

Blue Dot?? If I had a restaurant I would have an ATM and only take debit cards. Even with the cash back some may be getting, they charge almost 3% to the company and that is a part of doing business and guess who pays for that???

If you look close enough quite a few "Mom and Pops" restaurants will have two registers one for credit cards and checks and the other for cash. Helps the bottom line when you don't pay taxes on the cash.
