I just heard that they are building a Casino on Perdido, The Indians bought the property where the hotel use to be on the left just as you get on the key. Is that true or false?

Iwish they would build one in our area. We need the jobs these places create. There will be someone who will say these places are a meca for crime and criminals. I say screw them. I have never been robbed in the parking lot of a casino or ever felt unsafe or threatend while walking to or from the parking lot.

Actually the idea of creating jobs is bullshit. I gamble, will go to a casino, dog track play poker whatever, so I'm not against any form of gambling. BUT a casino causes MORE poverty then the jobs they create due to those that can't control themselves. I have seen farmers loose EVERYTHING they had, I've seen business close due to the owners compulsive gambling, I have see those very people we talk about, those on welfare, spending the money that was taken from us. Come the first of the month, you couldn't find a machine under $5.00 free. I'll guarantee that and mark my word you will see the same. So its not ALL rosy.

Although in rare instances, robbery of patrons happens, it is rare even in bad areas where the casinos are located in Greenville, MS....Actually that is the least of the problems they cause.

At least they would be putting that welfare money back into the economy. Otherwise, they'd just be buying drugs, right b/c that's what everyone on welfare spends their checks on, right?

that may be true but that is not the casinos fault...i would like to see one also...when the tourist come it would get them to spend more money in the area

NOT AT ALL.... but a good percentage do, both black and white. Gee I wonder what the correlation is due to the fact that the casinos are packed the beginning of the month...the most during any other part. MOST of those on welfare do not participate.

i would love to see a full blown casino here. hell maybe a dozen, but it probably wont happen this being the bible belt. tuna man i usually agree with your post but not on this one. we dont need laws to protect us from ourselfs. if a person goes to a casino and gambles everything they own then thats their business. if they dont do it here they will just do it in biloxi. they might as well spend it here. and as far as spending their welfare check they shouldnt be getting one. if they have mind and body to gamble that ought to be good enoughin mind and bodyto hold a job.
