Default Best place to collect seashells in Pensacola/Perdido Key areas

Went down to St. Pete, Florida with family for week and there were plenty of good find shells down there. Anyone around here have some nice spots to go pick shells with the kids?

TIA

There really arnt very many good places around here,, all the shells are small,, this is one of the reasons our sand is so white,, is the lack of colored shells,,, the way the ridge runs out by the edge, we are to far from it , hope this helps...

The best time is after we have a (I don't want to say the word). You know one of those weather problem things we have around here in the summer time.

Two days after one of the storms (I can't remember which one), I went out to Ft. McRee in the boat. Some of the best shellshad washed up on the beach.

I believe that you need to consider the water depth.....it drops muchdeeper and soonerin the Pensacola area then out from Tampa/St Pete area.

There are shells to be found. My daughter and I like to snorkel for them. People probably think we're crazy because we aresnorkeling right up against the shoreline in about a foot of water. The deck rails around my house are covered in shells we've picked upin a few trips the last couple of summers. If you don't want to snorkel, buy yourself a sand flea rake and scoop up a bunch and sort through them on the beach.

Go to Johnson's Beach and head East past the paved road ... snorkel down that way , there is less foot traffic there , hence there are more shells there :letsparty ... also , Perdido Pass is about to be dredged again soon , go to the West side of the jetty there , and there will be tons of shells in the dredge spoils :letsparty

On p-cola beach at 10th ave behind springhill suites. The wave action has made a 2 foot washout there with tons of shells in it. I was trying my luck for some pompano today and noticed a lot of people stopping to pick through the shells.

There should be plenty of shells between Pensacola Beach and Navarre since the road's been closed for years and just opened this week. After the hurricanes there were shells galore on the beach, and there haven't been many people on that part of the island.
