I was wondering if that would happen. What poll is that cause the AP poll doesn't matter, just the coaches poll? When does the BCS come out. I would think the computer polls would be kind to Alabama though Texas probably has the biggest win against Oklahoma.

The AP poll has always had more weight than the coaches poll , which is more of a popularity contest anyway :letsparty

Pourman, I'd consider the AP much more of a popularity contest than the coaches. The AP doesn't even count towards the BCS anymore does it? That is why I say it really doesn't matter.

The AP, in my opinion, IS the poll.

The BCS has too many factors that do not make sense.

it was always my understanding that the AP is the "real" poll , the coaches poll just came out , the AP has been around since the first days of College Football :letsparty

The BCS doesn't even take the AP into consideration, so really, it means nothing. The BCS considers the coaches poll, the harris poll and then 6 computer generated rankings.

True but untrue all at once.

The AP voters requested that BCS not involve them. They (a ton of experts) decided the BCS was screwed up that they wanted nothing to do with it.

I don't agree with the BCS either but what I was getting at is, at the end of the day, being #1 in the ESPN Coaches Poll will help you get into the national championship game. Being #1 in the AP poll will get you in the paper but it's not worth anymore than the mullet wrapper you're reading it from.
