Default Advice on U.S. Virgin Islands

If anyone who has been there would please provide recommendations, suggestions, opinions, guides, resorts, etc., it would be greatly appreciated. Probably be going mid May. Not sure which island and want to charter. Will have wife w/ me and would like a nice place to stay. Thanks!

I've been to St. Thomas three times now. First trip was in May of 94 and that was my first Blue Marlin. Caught around the full moon at the 'North Drop'. Chartered the 'Prowler' at Red Hook - Capt. Bill ??? . Tagged and released an estimated 250# - WOW what at thrill! Even more thrilling than my second (10 years later) - est 500# in Hawaii. I have stayed at Sapphire Beach, Bolongo Bay and the Marriott time share and all were very acceptable, though it can be pricey. Sapphire is very close to Red Hook which has an excellent marina that is full of 'battle wagons' for charter - expect 800 to 1200 for a full day of billfishing. Capt. Bill put us on tuna and dolphin to start the day .. 64# and 56# yellowfin and a 42# bull were our larger ones. I love it down there and don't think you can have 'bad' day in paradise.

If you have some down time. I stayed with a friend on St. Thomas, rented a 24' cc. We went to The Soggy Dollar Bar ( Jost Van Dyke BVI), Willy T's (Norman's Island BVI), and if you snorkle don't miss The Indians (rock formation southeast of St. Thomas.

I would recommend a charter if fishing is your main goal.
