Don't get me wrong it ain't like I played for him. Had some limited knowledge of how he was in his auburn days and since then have not been a big fan. Just watched some fsu games the last couple years and have been under-whelmed to say the least. Full disclosure, I'm a UF fan so my opinion should not mean much here!

UF....... No problem, just as long as we don't try to sit in the same room and watch "THE" game.

Wonder what the problem is with Trickett??? He kinda reminds me of Mickey Andrews. No nonsense, kick em in the ass if they need it.

The problem with the OL last year is because of the injuries we ended up with near all freshman playing and that can really hurt a team. Ej Manuel would have better stats if he got some blocking and wasn't in a rush all the time.

As far as Trickett having his hands tied, that couldn't be further from the truth. He hand picked all of his guys since he arrived in Tallahassee, and it wasn't until the last two recruiting seasons or so that Jimbo stepped in and started bringing in bigger guys. Trickett liked to recruit smaller, faster linemen, which is great if you're running a spread offense, and you need those quick blocks on the outside, but it fails miserably when you're trying to run the ball between the tackles, or when you face a big, aggressive D-Line. Teams with above average D-Lines have killed us the last 3-4 years, regardless of the O-Line's health. I hope Trickett proves me wrong this season. The four freshmen that played in the bowl game gave me some hope. They were terrible in the first half, but they came out in the second half and gave EJ time to operate. I guess we'll find out soon enough, otherwise, I hope Jimbo shows him the door...

All that being said, JUCO guys never seem to work out for us, with Mike Harris being one of the lone exceptions. Menelik is supposed to be a stud, so hopefully he pans out. UF pulled in some nice O-Linemen to go with the rest of their class, and UM will be back in the hunt sooner than most seem to think.

Go Noles.

Thanks for your input. Do we or have we been getting any of the best rated O linemen in the country or even the southeast? Defensive line does not require nearly the brain matter of O line. Are we getting the fellas that are big, strong, quick and not so bright? I'm not picking on any body's kid, that is just where you will find greater memory banks. As for Trickett, he has to know it is twilight time. Now or never.

Thankfully, since I'm a gator fan, no. No highly rated OL at all. A couple of more ham n' eggers. FSU won't compete for championships until they get some quality OL. It's all won in the trenches. FSU's D will be stout for a long time and the O will be just as weak as ever..

When I see them pulling in 4 and 5 star OL, I'll start to get worried.

FSU always gets these top prospects and does nothing with them! until they can show they can do something with the players they recruit they will be an over-rated flop as a team

There wasnt a huge need for O linemen this year. Last year they signed 8 offensive linemen! FSU started 4 freshmen at O line in the bowl game. They are only losing 1 O lineman after the 2012 season, the rest will be soph and jr for the 2013 football season. However, 6 of FSUs d linemen(that see playing time) will be leaving, that is if Bjoern goes early which im sure he will. Therefore the need was at D line, not O line, and that is where Jimbo and crew focused. Obviously they wont turn away special talent that is interested in coming to FSU but their objective was to stack the d line. Which is exactly what they did. Mario Edwards, Eddie Goldman, Chris Casher, Justin Shanks! Thats 2 of the top 3 D ends in the country and the top D tackle! Lots of guys doing the chop on TV on national signing day! Should only get better to be a Nole!
