I've been looking for a new (to me) boat for about 2 or 3 months. I was finding all kinds of stuff that I wanted. Some of them BAD!!! But, I had to sell my boat first...
Now that my boat is gone, I cant find a damn thing that really interests me. Every time that I find something that sparks the slightest interest, it has one of the two engines that I am avoiding.
Point is, why is it when you are broke, you find all kinds of good stuff? But when you have cash in hand, you cant find what you are looking for? :whistling:
Yep. Sounds like when I was selling my boat. I had 12 people on it. I had three look at it. First two were headed to bank on Monday, third had cash...
I did find a Bertram 25 that needed restoration that I was gonna go look at, but it sold this morning. That's one of the things that sucks about living off the coast. All the good deals get sucked up before I can get down there to them on the weekend. That's the second Moppie that I have missed because it sold during the week. I guess it is for the best though. I'm really looking for something a good bit smaller, but MAN I love the look of a hardtop Moppie.
I want to buy a boat so bad and 3 just popped up on here, I got up from my chair and walked around and even grabbed my phone but my better judgment sunk in. I have to wait till I get a couple things done first. I must say that 21 is one nice rig. Once I get things in order I bet I won't be able to find anything.
I`m in the same boat ( pun intended ). I sold my big boat, moved to our river house and now am in the market for a small bay boat or river boat.
Like Tom mentioned, I gotta wait till the end of the year, people need holiday money so most will sell something to get it.
Just to clarify. My post was not a rant or frustration. It was more of a whimsical shrug with a sigh... and a chuckle.
Those Triumph boats are interesting. I've never seen one in person. From what I have read about them, most people love em, and a few hate em. I am looking for a CC boat though. A moppie hardtop or something like it would be the only exception.
I've started thinking about a 17-20ft cat of some sort. But I want to stay with a single engine. I dunno. They are interesting, and I have never owned a cat. I know the smaller ones have some handling problems in rough seas. But 90-95% of my use will be in freshwater.
I would LOVE to have Matilda. THere is a very special place in my heart for big Starcrafts. But there are two problems...
1) I dont think she will fit in my driveway. My driveway is 120 inches wide and is right up against the house. So eight feet up, the eve of the house blocks 2ft off of my driveway width. That 21 Cape Horn was only about 10 or 12 inches from the bow rail hitting the roof of the house.
2) I already bought a Starcraft 21 Mariner in the past. When I tore her down to redo, I found that salt water had gotten under the foam and eaten the aluminum to the point that there were LOTS of points that I could see the blue hull paint. From the INSIDE!!! So the wife gives an adamant NO to any aluminum boat that I point out...
Im looking, but im not looking for a new boat. Makes it alot easier to wait it out for the right deal, im figuring by next year i'll have just what i want.
Yeah, I dont want to wait that long. My wife and I usually spend about 30-35 weekends of the year on the water. We havent been on the water yet this year, and currently have no water worthy boat... Kinda jonesing to get out there... But I WILL wait for the right boat and the right deal.
I found another that I liked last night. I contacted the people this evening to set up a look-see this weekend. It had sold today at lunch... dangit! It sucks to live so far from the coast and not be able to get on deals as soon as they pop up.
I know where a 1984 Seacraft 20ft Master Angler is with no power. Boat was just gone though. New floor transom and paint. No motor. 5k with a nice aluminum trailer. It's a clean boat.
Mildly interested. Any pics or info?
I dont really want to have to try and find an engine package, but I do like a SeaCraft 20. Good looking boats. If redone nicely, I might be game.
