3M makes a really good wax. I worked for Killinger Marine and that is the only wax we used. Its great stuff. You can get it at West Marine,Boaters World, Academy.

Collinites 925 is a great product. Can be hard to find but well worth it.

I clean and waxed my boat a couple of weeks ago with the new MaryKate Nano wax. Of course the ads read good, but the new nano type waxes seem to be the way to go. I let you know in a month or two how its holding up.

For the last several years, I have used the McGuire's Premimum Boat Wax, it will hold up for pretty much of the year.

One of the threads talked about things your anal about, for me that's keeping my boat clean and protected.

OK, I am completely ignorant about needing special waxes for boats! With that admission out of the way, I use 303 Aerospace protectant on my kayak and also on every exposed piece of leather, rubber, vinyl, and other synthetic piece on my F-150 including soft bumper covers, weatherstrips, and tinted bug guard and window shades. I waxed my kayak once with a teflon based auto wax but I really don't see the need as the 303 is reputed to have so much more sun and oxidation protection than anything else. Is all this simply hype to sell their 303 products or is it truly a better protection than just wax??

Also,what is in these boat waxes that wouldn't be in a good quality car wax such as Mother's or McGuires that would add to their cost?? I use DuPont Teflon Ultra car wax on my F-150 and it gives it a showroom shine and beads up water for over 3 months or more. Why wouldn't something like these new technology teflon based waxes or something similar work on a boat's surface equally as well?

Sometimes I get the impression that, just because the label says "for boats only" or for "used on all RV's" that they can get away with charging an additional 25% to 50% more for it when, in fact, it isn't any better than the product that is made for a similar use. For example, how can an RV exterior soap product be so much better than a similar car exterior soap product that they can charge almost 50% more for that RV product?

Is there some information that would substantiate those claims somewhere or are they just blowing smoke up someone's "tailpipe" with all these claims and higher charges??

Quit using wax. I did, three years ago. I've been using a polymer called Rejex since then. I get it from a friend that sells CorrosionX and it is good stuff. After the first application, you'll be amazed. Diesel soot simply won't stick to it. What does sit on the sealed surface rinses off and things like fish blood never require scrubbing. It's good on glass and metal too so you don't have to freak if you get it on something.



Best yet, its a wipe on wipe off and after you get a few coats built up on it it really shines.



Wax has pores and shit can get in the pores of the was so things like diesel soot can build up in your wax and make your boat look dirty even when its not.
