Saw this on craigslist today....
http://pensacola.craigslist.org/boa/1638052704.html<H2>Big Boat_ Heap-Cheap 31ft. - $1000 (GB)</H2><HR> Date: 2010-03-10, 4:55PM EST Reply to: sale-kmwqh-1638052704@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?] <HR> <DIV id=userbody>Very Imporant PLEASE READ ENTIRE AD ! Want a big boat, but don't have 10-12 Grand? Here's your chance! May trade for almost anything of equal value. Clear Title ! ChrisCraft 31ft. Fiberglass hull, twin 350cid Chey engines. (starboard eng. needs head reworked, port eng. needs replacing, ( Long Block about $675 at parts house)) Hydrolic steering, auto pilot, full head, sleeps 6, full galley (fridge is gone) PRICE IS AS IS WHERE IT SETS!!! If I get it off the sandbar the price WILL go up considerbly! This boat is on a sandbar, and I don't have time to mess with it. PS Very High Tide weekend of 3/21/10, if not sold by then I will move it myself, or possiably sooner. Invest about 3K and some time, and this boat should be worth 10 - 12 Thousand. This Boat is big enough for 100 mi. fishing trip with no prob. Don't e-mail, I don't check my e-mail very often! If you are serious, and ONLY if you are serious Call Me At (850) 642-2705. <UL class=blurbs><LI>Location: GB <LI>it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests</LI>[/list]<TABLE summary="craigslist hosted images"><TBODY><TR><TD align=middle> </TD><TD align=middle> </TD></TR><TR><TD align=middle> </TD><TD align=middle> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></DIV>PostingID: 1638052704 Looks like the Sykes bridge in the background. Also looks like a boat I noticed had been grounded on the east side of Gulf breeze for awhile. There has to be a story to this thing. Also, I was curious about salvage rights at this point. If you were to go and remove it from the sandbar, wouldn't you automatically gain salvage rights????? Just throwing it out there. Sounds like somebody had a VERY bad day.... |

I don't know anything about the boat, but I'm pretty sure there is more to salvor rights than just claiming an abandoned vessel. I believe the vessel has to be in immediate danger and you have to have permission from the owner, but I could be wrong. Even then I believe a fee is usually arranged, the salvor doesn't always keep the boat. I've done some reading on it and it seems pretty complicated.

Actually, it looks like the one that has been moored off of Juana's Pagoda in Navarre since Ivan, I understood he was working on it on weekends, it may have broke from it's moorings and run aground, that could be the Navarre Beach bridge in the background.

When we were out last Weds. we saw the boat. It looked grounded just East of Bob Sykes bridge on the north side, maybe on that National Seashore area?

I don't know all the rules and laws of salvage, but I do know you have to make an effort (in writing- notarized I'm sure) to contact the owner. I bet this guy will respond to your effort.
I know some one who successfully claimed a 21' cc after Ivan. Tons of red tape.

went to look at it this am. Boat need LOTS of repair..motors are still there , interior needs to be all removed. Seems like it has no water inside but a few inches from the rain that's all....easy to float out , you can see the tide line and prob float it with not much effort.Big project boat for sure....Owner wants a 1K....If you want to see it, the easiest route will be parking by the apts at the end of Naval oaks..(office depot plaza behind the movie teather)..its a short walk form there. Good luck...

It looks like all the running gear is buried in sand, if it's still there...
