My neighbor is retired military and has launched his small boat at Sherman Cove occasionaly. If I were to take him in my boat, could I launch at Sherman Cove? Using my truck to tow? Sure would save on some gas.
Thank you for your replies in advance!

i think as long as he shows his military ID, you should be able to, but not 100%

yeah, as long as a person with you is military or DOD they just wave you in. And yes it is Much much much closer than anything else.

yea they are going to ask the military guy if he is sponsoring you from some crazy reason he says yes you launch your boat. i dont think dod can use the ramp because of the new base command. i work out there have access to any building on the base and cant even fish from the sea wall.

we drove in with a boat and showed a DOD card and no questions asked. This was about 3 weeks ago.

Yeah DOD, Active Duty, Retired Military, Depends can use the ramp. I am DOD, and called the other day to confirm i can use the ramp. Go to the back gate its closer to the ramp.

Most likely the easiest way to do it is to have the Military member drive through the gate.

All the above is true. If the person escorting you on is in the vechile they have and have not checked you for a drivers lic. Most of the time I just lead the way tell the guard I am escorting the vechile behind me to Sherman Cove. THEY WILL check that persons driver lic. then. When you get to Sherman Cove you WILL HAVE to pay a launch fee, even if the person has a boat stored there, $5 or so. You will save that on gas EASY though.
Sometimes they go through the spill of you can not go anywhere else and all that but worth the 45 seconds IF THAT. :usaflag |

I am DOD and I use Sherman Cove almost exclusively. I have non DOD/military folks follow me on base behind me all the time. I tell the guard that the person behind me is with me and they check their driver's license and away we go.
