I got the Stik-It anchor pin with the transom mount bracket. That was two months ago. Haven't been able to try it out because of wind, bad weather, and more recently, water in my lower unit.
I do think it will be something I'll really enjoy having, though.
I use an 8' or so piece of 1" PVC pipe. Cut one end at a 45 degree angle and put a 1" T fitting on the other. Holds my 17' skiff and stores in a rod holder when it's not in use.
Price seems steep but guess most of that is for the bracket.
Have a 6' Stick-It, solid fiberglass rod, the boat has drifted over it with no breakage. Built a bracket for it mounted on the swim platform. Works great for very shallow water. Don't work if the boat bobs up and down enough to hit the tee handle and pull it out of the bottom.
i've been building and selling them for 8 yrs. they will hold better than a power pole because the boat travels up and down on the stick and doesn't hop or pull it out. BUT---you have to go to it and put it in the little hole and you have to go to it and pull it up, which can be a PITA some times. still at $200 you can't beat it.
I've seen this guy posting custom mounts since 2012, now seems to have a shop. Tough to navigate thru the site but pretty innovative stuff. Check it out.
not really a new idea. spud barges have been using the same thing as long as i can remember. i originally did it because my nephew needed a anchor of some kind and couldn't afford a power pole. i'm surprised more people don't make them their self. i used the same bolt pattern that power pole uses so he could mount a pp there later if he got one. if you try to ship a 10' pc of fiberglass, the shipping is more than the whole thing, so it's kind of a local thing. 8' not so bad.
